| Firstly all of us here at Organ Grinder Records would like to wish you a very happy new year and thank you all for your support during 2005.
That year ended with The Mules being voted Best Newcomer by www.oxfordbands.com while their single ‘Polly-O’ was listed among their top 5 songs of the year and received radio support from Xfm, Radio 1 and KRCW among many others.
Fireworks Night’s debut ‘It’s A Wide, Wide Sea’ received some lovely reviews throughout the year and was recently named in Claire Kember’s (formerly first lady of the Daily Show for the excellent www.totallyradio.com) top 25 albums of 2005 (you can see the full list at www.clairekember.co.uk). It also featured in the lovely Vanity Project fanzine's top ten albums of the year (http://vpfanzine.blogspot.com/). Our thanks to Claire and Skif.
On the other side of the Atlantic Pontiak’s ‘White Buffalo’ E.P was similarly greeted with a warm response from critics and the limited release quickly found hundreds of happy new homes.
So… What will this new year bring?
Well… www.puregroove.co.uk have just made an extremely limited number of signed copies of The Mules’ single ‘Polly-O’ available on their website. The single has been selling fast so get there soon if you want a copy. In other Mules news the band have two live dates scheduled in the month of January including an Artrocker show supporting NME endorsed Bromheads Jacket at The Buffalo Bar in London. For details of all upcoming concerts please see the Gigs page.
Also, we are very excited to announce that February will the see the first Organ Grinder club night taking place at the wonderful Luminaire (www.theluminaire.co.uk) in Kilburn. Details are still to be confirmed but we can say that it will be on Saturday 25th February and will include live sets from The Mules and Fireworks Night as well as other bands and DJs. We intend to make it a truly special evening and your company would be much appreciated.
There are many, many more tentative plans bouncing around in the Organ Grinder brain for the coming months. February will hopefully see the release of new material by both Fireworks Night and The Mules and possibly the introduction of some new acts into the OG stable. There are more gigs planned and some radio appearances scheduled but we don’t want to burden you with too much knowledge just yet. We will post the news in digestible doses nearer the time.
We wish you all the best for 2006. |
